Kind und Jugend
15th to 18th September 2016
Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany
Kind und Jugend is the largest European nursery trade show and one of the largest in the world covering 100,000m² of exhibition space with over 1,000 exhibitors. The show offers great export opportunities with more than 21,000 trade visitors from over 100 countries attending. Last year approximately 75% of trade visitors came from outside Germany.
For the eighth year running, the Baby Products Association is heading to Cologne with a delegation of members to attend the biggest baby trade show in Europe – Kind und Jugend, from 15th to 18th September 2016.
From its humble beginnings in 2009 with just 10 exhibitors, the UK Pavilion at Kind und Jugend has grown beyond all expectations, becoming almost an exhibition within an exhibition with over 65 participants and covering a staggering 2,500 square meters of space in Hall 11.1 of Koelnmesse.
Last year the UK Pavilion at Kind und Jugend sold out, so if your company would like to participate in 2016 don't wait until the last minute to book.
Each year the BPA produces a UK Pavilion Directory with full details and contact information of all participating exhibitors - DOWNLOAD A COPY OF THE 2015 UK PAVILION DIRECTORY

2015 Kind und Jugend Testimonials
Great support from the BPA and UKTI – TAP is brilliant, thank you.
Bambooty Real Nappies
Well organised within the show. Very comfortable way to meet a wide range of potential clients and share information on managing and developing contacts with other UK companies.
It was a quieter show than previous years, but we saw existing contacts and have made a few new ones
As usual it was well worth being in the UK Pavillion – it has a great buzz and is without doubt a real highlight of the K+J show for all the visitors. The coffee area gives the baby community a real chance to mingle and meet. The BPA look after us incredibly well – free coffee is a huge help! The quality of visitors was good – although footfall felt slower than normal.
Kind and Jugend is an absolutely fantastic show, I have managed to get some great leads into some otherwise very difficult countries to access. The exhibitors in the UK pavilion are also friendly and helpful and willing to share advice. It is the best tradeshow I have ever attended.
Great platform to meet a wide range of both retailers and distributors from around the world. This really helps us to enter new markets and support distributors in existing countries with new retailer leads. These results would be much harder to achieve without attending this show and without the support of UKTI
The show is an excellent showcase for us to find new distributors, we do a lot of work prior to the show and encourage any new partners to visit the show. We also use our stand for our existing distributors to use the stand to present the whole range to their customers, this works very well, the hall has great features, the stands are well maintained and it is a good experience for retailers from around the world to see our entire collection. The organisers look after us very well and are always helpful. This is an important show for us to present our entire collections to the world.
We had a very good show meeting most of our objectives. In particular we met with an overseas customer of ours who we met at Kind + Jugend in 2013 who have already placed orders in excess of £150,000 during 2013-2014 and placed a further order at the show for over £40,000 for delivery in November and another order promised early in the new year. We also successfully launched a new first walking shoe collection enabling us to push ahead with this range with the feedback we received from customers. Orders were taken from Dusseldorf, Cologne, Paris, Dubai and London with numerous enquiries from around the world which we will now be following up. In recent years Kind + Jugend has proved to be our most important trade fair enabling us to keep moving forwards during difficult trading conditions. Our company is experiencing its most successful year in a very long time resulting in us recruiting two new members of staff this year and we are looking for more skilled staff to considerably increase our production output.
We feel that the position of the stand in the UK pavilion was ideal allowing us meet customers to obtain leads for export. The BPA have helped us immensely in the organisation of the event, guiding us through each stage to allow us to get these new opportunities.
Fill n Squeeze
Brilliant show, time and time again. This show should be on twice a year, just like Spring fair.
This show has been absolutely incredible for Gummee Ltd. It has proven to be an essential part of our marketing, as distributors that came to see us at last year’s show but didn’t order, came back to us at this year’s show & made it clear that they do not take a brand seriously unless they are seen to be growing & innovating every year. As a result of this, we’ve appointed two new distributors within the first two days after the show!
Fantastic show, essential for networking and building on both new and established industry relationships.
Overall the footfall for the show seemed low, but we still managed to make enough contacts to make it worthwhile. These new contacts include businesses based in Germany, France, Belgium, Israel and Lebanon.
The BPA area was run very well, we have no complaints, it is a fantastic show, I wish there was more presence from British/UK in attending firms create more strength / and or more reason to visit our pavilion.
Good show for international leads.
Another good show with decent footfall and quality of leads. Good representation internationally although a little more proportion of Far East visitors in comparison to previous years.
Now in our third year at K&J show through the UKTI, the show continues to be a great shop window for our business. The UK pavilion seems to attract very good visitor numbers and we are hopeful this show will be our most successful year.
Good quality contacts, not overwhelmed by visitors, but a steady flow during the show. In volume terms we met mostly local visitors from Germany and Benelux. Then probably equal numbers from the Far East. Then a handful from US, UK, Middle East and East EU.
We also noted a few competitors also exhibiting walking around looking for ideas.
Practically the show is easy to access, Cologne is a nice place to visit, so seems to attract international visitors. The exhibition halls are modern and easily accessed. We were also pleased to be on the British Pavilion which had good foot-fall and a good vibe, even though it was at the back of the hall. We felt we made some good connections to other UK business while at the show too.
We had a great experience during our first time exhibiting at Kind & Jugend. We were staggered by the size of the show and have learnt a great deal ready for next year! We were pleased to be exhibiting in the British Pavillion as it provided extra support for us being first-timers and there was a good camaraderie amongst the exhibitors. It’s hard to know at such an early stage how successful the show has been for us but we certainly have a lot of leads to follow up and they will hopefully translate into orders and even possibly some new distribution deals.
Little Butterfly London
Great! We will be back. Thanks for the BPA’s help!
The show is a necessity to grow our business. We are able to meet existing distributors who will use our stand as a way to show our products. We are also able to meet new customers from a wide variety of countries. We also had a lot of people comment that they like to buy British brands. It is very important to keep the funding for the UK Pavilion and for us as small business owners to export to other countries.
Merry go round
I found the show both interesting and an excellent place to network in addition to looking for new business opportunities. Having a stand in the UK pavilion gave my company good presence within the industry.
My Buggy Buddy
Our best Best show to date! Great opportunity to showcase new products too which were very well received.
My Carry Potty
We had a fantastic show with a large amount of very promising leads from many new countries, a large portion of which will result in new business. Kind & Jugend gives us a super platform from which to reach out to new export business far and wide. The vast majority of our turnover will be the result of exhibiting at this show and the subsequent export business that follows. In addition to the additional new business it brings it also carries a huge benefit in terms of international market information that we gather from distributors & retailers alike from many different countries. This is very beneficial in company global export strategies for the future.
K & J is invaluable to us as a platform to meet our existing customers, to meet potential customers, and as a networking event. We gather so much valuable information simply by being there. We ensure our existing distributors make appointments to see us there and we use the event to launch our new seasons styles. Key retailers have the opportunity to meet, and see the entire range all together, and a good number of independent UK retailers also visited this year. We met with two strong distributors that we hope to work with, and had many more visit the stand that will require more research. For PacaPod, this was a great event that is invaluable to the international growth of the business
As ever amazing international show. Great new leads, well worth the trip!
Having exhibited at Kind und Jugend for quite a few years it is great to see the UK pavilion growing from strength to strength each year – it is a great team to be part of and it certainly attracts the visitors to the stand.
Without this exhibition I wouldn’t have been able to demonstrate face to face just how brilliant our product is. We’ve now got leads from Canada to UAE to Iran and Australia. This show is so important to SMEs like ours. My next problem is trying to find the funds to stock these big fish (I nice problem to have! J).
Great show again! Lots of international leads.
Great event and opportunity to meet people/clients from all over the world together with meeting existing clients.
We were pleased with the show in general as we met some excellent prospects (from the GCC in particular) that look set to sign contracts with us, we were a little disappointed by the quantity of EU distributors we saw, only two in total, and both from smaller economies in the ascension countries (although business with both looks probable). The show was otherwise a success. The BPA organisation was excellent as was the opportunity to network with others in the industry.

BPA has been great. The support has been fantastic.
